oh lord
and all she had done was
find a puppy
but evil had her cornered at
its safe return
their weapon a mirror image of her
except the clothes
and lord
did they chase her and cause
her heart to pound
did they kick her and watch
with churlish glee as her blood
pooled around her but oh lord
she gave in not
and then oh lord but the
most horrible thing did and
did not happen
she wanted to die and couldn't
she was dying and couldn't
she died and couldn't
be dead outside as she was inside
as they were inside
as they were inside but alive inside her
oh lord did they rob from her
their gifts
her gift
his gift
dead inside again she made as
though to enjoy it
her cries changing tune from that which
they had been before
oh lord
how brutally they took her!

and later
beneath heavy lids she saw
the world at peace
and heaven and hell at once as she
slipped down toward one
without caring which it was
because it meant an end to her current
hell on earth
and her flesh was cut away
melting away to expose her insides
just once more
seconds passed
deciding fast
she took her chance.

oh lord
and she awoke to searing heat
and I wish I had and
hadn't been there.
